Where’d the desk come from? Well, I’m going to say it’s the Magical Meats guy. How? Simple. One of the monster types in the caverns is Mimics. Not just your standard treasure chest Mimics, but Mimics for all kinds of furniture, and many an unwary adventurer has met his end being sucked into a chester drawer mimic or a chair mimic. The wise hunter, however, knows that such furniture absolutely does not belong down there, and, if sufficiently skilled and prepared, can hunt these beasts. The Magical Meats guy, in particular, will carve out their guts and muscles as a food product, leaving behind a lifeless shell that is, for all intents and purposes, the genuine article, and he sells those as a side business.
So yeah, Melesa’s [sp?] desk was a Desk Mimic at one point.
Oh, now you see I also thought it was from the Meat place, but I assumed it was the #17, Carpenter Ant Colony.
That’s the one where you eat the colony, and then every additional bit of food you can get your hands on over the next few days. As the ants crawl out of your body, one by one, they use the most directly available materials to build something exactly as you imagine it.
Of course, if you can’t find enough organic matter to fill your stomach, fairly constantly, they do turn to the next available source.
