Drek the Halls part 1 of 2
With a holiday bonus under their belt and a new respect on the streets, the runners think their luck has finally turned around. Thankfully, a new job will show them how wrong they really are.

24:08 if you were curious. By the time you reach the point in the episode where that number will make sense, it’s far too late though.
@Jake You beat me to it! I was just checking the time stamp for that part of the episode. Well, I think that this episode may have the longest derailment of a game in Fandible history.
Gah, forgot to write how long our derailment lasted. Geez, those novels were strangely compelling.
I didn’t say people shouldn’t listen to it, it was great. If we send you smut novels, will you do a dramatic reading on air?
Also if people DON’T listen to it, then how much of the episode will make sense? How will people know what Rosalind’s trigger word is? They’ll miss what I have to assume was Mr. Smiley reading his favourite novel passage at his own funeral. So many amazing moments, vanished like the faded passion of a daemon hunter who’s lived for so long that she’s forgotten what it means to love.
For some reason I really hope J.C. survives and names a drink after “Rosey” or something.
Also, would very much love a Fandible Bookclub where the crew read some of these crazy books in one of their various characters. (Barsha audiobook anyone?)
my mother wrote one of those bodice-rippers. I’m pretty sure it’s the worst thing ever. have the Fandible book club review Keys to the Coven. I can’t read it myself because I need reasons to live.
Okay, I’ve been binging on these, and I got say this is one of your best series of games yet, maybe because the cast seems so rounded and David does a good job at playing at their strengths and weaknesses
Oh, and not to sound nitpicky but as a dude who lives like fifteen minutes from there it’s pronounced PEW-All-Up
Great episode — I was dying during some of those romance novel readings. The actual session was a nice change of pace from the really shoot-people-heavy stuff you’d been doing with Shadowrun before.
Incidentally, about the “swan = person who donates blood to vampires” thing — that is actually a surprisingly clever Twilight reference. Swan as in BELLA Swan.
@Shonen Hero- Glad you liked it, and thanks for letting me know how to pronounce Puyallup. Be assured I will continue to butcher names in the future.
@Gazetteer- While “shooting your way in, shooting your way out” is a tried-and-true method of completing a Shadowrun, I agree it needs to be mixed with some social gameplay.
@Foxbear- I think J.C. might need a new job after this adventure. I hear Clem’s is hiring…
@Crawkill- Using the sentence “I can’t read it myself because I need reasons to live” is a privilege usually reserved for Lovecraftian protagonists, so that’s a plus, right?
I just hope none of the players ever call “poodle” on this series – It’s fast approaching my favourites tier.
I’m not sure, but I think this episode isn’t working, cause it won’t work for me. I’m not sure if this is affecting other people or not, but I figured I’d put this here in case it actually is a problem with the episode and not my internet.
Have never had quite so brilliant an intro since the MonsterHearts, great fucking fun.
I had to stop listening to this at work because I was laughing too hard and getting funny looks. Thank you Fandible, thank you.
