6 Webcomics To Cure The Winter Blues 2018

With the cold heart of winter quickly approaching, it’s time for me to once again warm you with some of my webcomic suggestions for the winter blues. Let their interesting stories and lovely art sparkle in your eyes and lighten your soul.

Marble Gate

Every couple of centuries, a massive gate appears out of the ether. Within it is a labyrinth with hundreds of floors and thousands of rooms. Bursting with priceless treasure, powerful artifacts, and horrible monsters. What do mere mortals do in the face of such danger & opportunity. Why build a thriving town in front of the gate and have adventurers explore it for fun and profit of course. A fun fantasy tale with action, adventure, and the brutal slaying of various monsters.

Carl

So you’re a Roboticist. A genius who has created the most advanced robot in the world. Do you use it to:

A) Take over the world.

B) Work as a Psychiatrist.

If you answered B, then you have the plot of Carl in a nutshell. A Sentient Robot trying his best to help the people under his care and alleviate their mental issues. As the story unfolds, it starts to touch on robot rights, corporate plots, and baseless fear but ultimately, it’s about sentient beings trying to help each other thru trying times.

Cato’s Apprenticeship

Cato’s Apprenticeship is the tale of a boy just trying to fit in on a spaceship. A klutz fascinated with space armor and stories of war, his life takes a turn for the strange as an ill-advised trip on a  space station leads to a perilous adventure. If you want a space opera with battle suits, cyborg gangsters, and otherworldly alien horrors, give Cato’s Apprenticeship a try.

Dark Science

Taking place far in the future, Dark Science is the tale of a genius cyborg inventor dealing with the legacy of her father and the technologically advanced but dogmatic society she lives in. The book touches numerous subjects such as philosophy, religion, and transhumanism and is a great read for any science fiction geek. As a personal fan of the creator for years, I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed.

The Unknowable

What if you had your traditional Lovecraft story, but from the other side. Where the monsters are the good guys. Ok, calling them good guys is a bit of a stretch but it is still an interesting take on the property. From the corrupt town of Innsmouth to the bizarre home of the migo, it becomes less a step into a madness and more a slowly unfolding drama as the various characters try to discover the mystery of the strange little planet called earth.

Up To 4 Players

Up To 4 Players is a wonderful webcomic about a group of players enjoying the many highs and lows of a campaign! Fandible have become fans of the comic – so much so, we’ve playtested their Crystal Heart RPG setting! If you’re interested in seeing their Crystal Heart RPG come to life, you can check out their Kickstarter going on right now. Regardless, check out their webcomic! It’s a hoot!

I hope these webcomics get you thru the winter months. If you need even more suggestions, check out previous webcomic winter blog posts.
